PhoneFavs has just released a Safari Extension button for use with Apple’s Safari web browser. This small extension places a small PhoneFavs button in your Safari toolbar as seen highlighted below:

Clicking on the button will open the PhoneFavs “Add a Bookmark” screen in a new tab with the Page Title and URL already prepared. It’s a handy way to quickly add bookmarks to your PhoneFavs account in addition to the standard bookmark buttons.

Download the extension above and click to install. If you don’t already have Safari Extensions enabled, you will need to them on first. Open the Safari Preferences, navigate to the advanced tab, select “show Develop Menu”, then from the new Develop menu, select the “Enable Extensions” option. Or follow the guide here.

Today marks the debut of the next generation version of PhoneFavs. Version 2.0 of the mobile portal and bookmarking tool has been significantly updated to providing enhanced mobile functionality to smartphones and touch screen devices.

Some of the new features include our new mobile weather report, which automatically attempts to show you weather conditions in your area. PhoneFavs members can customize the weather to show a location of your choosing.

We’ve also given the site a new look with a focus on improving the experience on touchscreen based devices. You can now find larger text, links and buttons making finger navigation a breeze. Some of the more recent PhoneFavs updates include some new functionality in the desktop browser toolbar buttons.

The Add a Fav form and the quick pop-over buttons now have the ability to remember your last privacy setting when saving links. If you prefer to select the private setting, it will remain selected the next time you go to save a link.

The browser buttons for your computer browser are the easiest way to save new bookmarks at PhoneFavs. They’re also great for quickly adding articles and content that you may want to revisit and read at a later time on your mobile device. We even have mobile bookmarklets that work with the iPhone, Opera Mini and a few other mobile browsers.

In addition, we have brought some optimizations online that should help the site run a bit quicker now.
